THE OLD WEAVER'S HOUSE
CANTERBURY

This timbered house was built in 1507 and stands on the River Stour.  It takes it’s name from the Flemish and Hugenot weavers who fled the religious persecution in France.  They were given the right to trade in Kent by Queen Elizabeth the first and taught the local people how to weave.
