The Church was given by William Scobies to the monastery of St. Stephens at Caen in Normandy at the time of the conquest.
The flint nave and chancel are early 13th century, the west tower was rebuilt in brick in 1787. The church was much restored in Victorian times especially in 1867. Inside there is a square Purbeck font dating from 1200.
