The building is late
Victorian of Gothic flint. The 1834 nave was rebuilt in 1893, the chancel was built in
1888 and the tower in 1898. The east face has a carved head of William Gladstone, the
south face that of Rev. Henry Elwell who did so much for the church and the parish. The
foundation stone of the chancel was laid by Catherine Arkwright
