This church is one of only six churches still standing in Essex with a round tower.
The tower is Saxon and built of flint. It was altered by the Normans who added the nave and windows.
The chancel dates from 1330, the spire was re-built in 1882 and re-shingled in 1947.
There are a few pieces of medieval glass left in the windows.
