MARGARET'S CHURCH Built within the confines of Barking Abbey, it started as a chapel, and was enlarged into a parish church about 1300 by the Abbess Anne de Vere. The Abbey was demolished in 1541 but the church was left standing to serve the needs of the large parish of Barking. |
