RIBEIRA BRAVE CHURCH - MADEIRA

The costal town of Ribeira Brava is west of the capital Funchal. Rising above the houses is the steeple of the Sao Benito church, faced with blue and white tiles. Although it was begun in the 16th century, the church has been considerably altered and restored. At the eastern end of the town a tunnel leads through the cliffs to a fishing harbour.
