ST NICHOLAS' CHURCH Mainly 15th but the site dates from King Canute's time. He founded a church here after defeating Edmund Ironside in 1016. The thick walled 275ft west tower was built in the time of Henry V. The west doorway bears English & France arms. The 18th c. pulpit was. introduced by George Walker, Canon of ST Paul’s. |
