The west tower is 15th century. The whole church was damaged during the civil
war. The top part of the tower was re-built in brick in 1729, the rest of the church was
restored in Victorian times by Sir Arthur Blomfield. Surrounding cottages shown in
an 1829 picture have been replaced by a dual carriageway.
