Little remains of the Saxon and
Norman churches which occupied this site. The flint and rubble tower was re-built in
the 14th century, capped with a lead spire. The fine brick clerestory was added in
Tudor times with its battlements on a trefoil corbel frieze and its pinnacles and diaper
work. The chancel dormers and vestry were built in the 19th century.
